(Book Review) Turtles All The Way Down by John Green

Author:- John Green

Book length :- 304

Genre:- Y/A, contemperory

VERDICT:- 3/5 (This here is a rough judgement .The verdict could be change in between the review after a thorough analysis of it’s cons and pros.)

We never really talked much or even looked at each other, but it didn’t matter because we were looking at the same sky together, which is maybe even more intimate than eye contact anyway. I mean, anybody can look at you. It’s quite rare to find someone who sees the same world you see

Sixteen-year-old Aza never intended to pursue the mystery of fugitive billionaire Russell Pickett, but there’s a hundred-thousand-dollar reward at stake and her Best and Most Fearless Friend, Daisy, is eager to investigate. So together, they navigate the short distance and broad divides that separate them from Russell Pickett’s son, Davis. Aza is trying. She is trying to be a good daughter, a good friend, a good student, and maybe even a good detective, while also living within the ever-tightening spiral of her own thoughts. In his long-awaited return,

Book Review:-

This here is a perfectly balanced book, having some cracks which makes the book to not to be remembered for a long run. This is perfectly fine but there’s nothing unique and outstanding here which makes the book ”ordinary”.

I think mostly John Green’s protagonist are teenagers as there are many complex things going on in this age but I also say it is simply and easily explianed in John Green’s writing. Teenage characters are so confusing as there’s so much going on in a diminished time period .But for writers it is easy to find conflict(s) part for teenage characters of book.Younger the protagonist ,greater the conflict.

I think that is why the book is simple and easy to grasp the feelings of writer through ”The Protagonist” . Turtles All The Way Down expresses the way of a teenage girl having issues with her love life..and pressure of carrier …her future ….her friendship….everything in her life which is miserable.

And why not,Its her teens.

Writer makes the readers to enjoy these miserable situations of teen through the eyes of Aza.There are many situations to face and many decisions to make just like one has to make in his/ her teenage. But for every book there are some points where the writer is not consistant.

We will discuss the down points later as they are adinfinitum small with the adinfinatum large effectiveness of Turtles All The Way Down. There are many places that made me think that ‘ she ‘ is ‘ me ‘ .
There are many situations that I recall from my extreme teenhood while reading this book.I am not saying that the incidenses are same but the way she felts is like the way I could’ve felt in that situations.
This made me to connected with the characters.I am not saying that its like Catcher In The Rye…but still.

It is a good book to read and re-radable.The book like this made you to remember it throughout your life, like for me I will recall this book as – I’ve read it when….
and -I’ve remember the same situations as this book called Turtles All The Way Down…-I’ve remember it reading it in summer of 2018.

The writing is really simple as seventeen year old girl’s.
The writing is simple yet effective .
The metaphors .If you’ve read John Green, you know what I am going to say. They are simple ,undestandable and for Green’s they are ”balanced”.In Green’s writing ,the metaphors suddenly splashes million of colors in your eyes and taste on your tongue. They were perfectly timid and just in perfect amount to grasp the true meaning and and meanings within meaning. They were calculated and fitted perfectly .

The intrigue level is very high that anyone even touches the book going to read fully through single day(4-5 hours(its kimd of short too)).

There’s only two things bugs me in this and I am mentioning it after going through a brutal fight with my mind .

You’re both the fire and the water that extinguishes it. You’re the narrator, the protagonist, and the sidekick. You’re the storyteller and the story told. You are somebody’s something, but you are also your you.

  1. The con in this book that some of the things are un-nesseassary.That like there are some of conversation like between Aza and Davis that are not promtly fits. Like the ”supermassive black hole”stuff and the ”star wars” fandom.I personally feels that they are pushed into the plot…I just think Writer wants to push every key factor into this that which are geeky cult and hugely popular. These two things are like bragging about the knowledge …they are not apt to the teenage view. But I am saying it again that these do not affect your reading and not helps you to judge the book.As I mentioned above I ‘find’ these cons afterall I am a critic.

2. There’s sudden plot twist which is a neither ”sudden” nor a ”real plot twist”’ .I am huge believer in plot twist but for this book the plot twis not required and if there’s aneed then its very weak and not effective.

In the end I would like to say the golden words about John Green’s Turtle All The Way Down:-

This book require a cool and calm mind which is also the proved stress buster if you read books like ‘AMERICAN GODS’ by Neil Gaiman which gave me a headache for two days(the review link of ‘American Gods’ is down below in the description section).

This is perfect example of contemperory novel which includes modern teen life situations. I highly recommend Turtles All The Way Down for those who wanted to feel good and for the readers who are going through ”reading slumps”.

If you are seeking enjoyment/entertainment then you should give Turtles All The Down a try without thinking twice .I recommend this for especially Non-Readers as this book has very best binding energy,Intrigue level. For READERS is really balanced but they can’t enjoy it fully as the story is short and makes a Readers want more(atleast I wanted it more).I think this point is either a Con or Pro ,so I simply make it as a another point to ponder.

  • For lastly ,Turtles All The Way Down is a perfect example of a balance between the Characters,Writing,Plot,Conflict(s) and obviously Enjoyment.

Finally I’d like to give this book a 4 out of 5 stars.

Upto scale of 10,I’d like to give this 6.5/10 stars.

    1. I know, I did’nt like ‘The Fault In Our Stars’ either .Its the description of cancer and the desires of them that makes the book disturbing .(for me).But Turtles all the way down is really a light read and non disturbing just the bitter truth taste in the end.You should give it a try.😊😊😊 and thanxx on behalf of my guitar.❀
